Friends of North Curry School
The last 18 months have been really difficult for everyone, in particular charities and FONCS is no exception to this. The restrictions have meant that FONCS haven’t been able to run any of its usual events, which as well as being enjoyable for the children and parents also raise much needed funds for our school.
Last month a small group of parents met with Mrs Morley and Mrs Green and we are really pleased to announce that we are re-launching FONCS.
What is FONCS?
FONCS or ‘Friends of North Curry School’ is a registered charity run by parents volunteering their time in order to raise much needed money for the school.
What does FONCS do?
FONCS organises a variety of fundraising events and initiatives with the aim of raising money to buy and fund resources and activities for the children that fall outside of the schools budget.
What is the money raised by FONCS spent on?
Every penny of the money raised by FONCS is spent on things that directly benefit the children. In the past money raised has helped to fund the library/intervention room, new library books, a stereo system and an interactive whiteboard. Some
of the items on the ‘wish list’ currently are:
• a Mindfulness log cabin for the playground
• new playground equipment
• more library books.
How can I get involved?
Most importantly we need everyone to support the events by coming along!
We understand that not everyone can commit their time regularly due to work, family and other commitments but if you have any ideas, contacts for raffle prizes, equipment you are able to lend for events such as lighting, marquees or barbeques or would like to help in any other way please get in touch with the FONCS team by emailing: email@example.com
How the children are getting involved?
The children have already been busy getting involved in the re-launch and have been designing a new logo for FONCS. The competition was judged by Leila Evenden and we’re pleased to announce the winner is Indie Huish from Seahorse class with a wonderful new design!
What’s coming up?
The first date for the diary is the Christmas Social on the 10th December. This will include a disco for the children, food, a bar selling festive refreshments for the adults and some craft stalls to help with those Christmas shopping ideas! We hope this will be a great opportunity to catch up with school gate friends whilst the children are entertained. Watch out for tickets on sale after half term.
Do you shop on Amazon?
Would you like the school to benefit from every purchase you make on amazon at no extra cost to you? FONCS is now registered with AmazonSmile. It’s really easy to register by visiting smile.amazon.co.uk If you use the Amazon app on your phone go to settings and tap AmazonSmile. Amazon will then donate 0.5% of the value of all your eligible purchases to FONCS!
What if I can’t commit to helping but want to donate money?
Why not set up a regular Standing Order to the charity. FONCS has a bank account which you can set up a standing order
into directly if you would like to do this. Even just a couple of pounds a month really adds up.
